So you just arrived on to our site and have questions? We’re here to help. Here are some common questions and answers.
Q: I really like the video I saw. Who’s is it and where can I find more information about them?
A: If we think their work is exceptional, really outstanding kind of stuff, we probably made dozens of links to there video channel, web page, or personal web site in the video post and elsewhere all over our site. Takes a really good video to get that though. Like jaw dropping kind of stuff that blows your mind.
Q: I saw a video here and I want to comment on it. How do I do that?
A: Simply fill out the comment form at the bottom of each video post. Although they are not required, please fill out your name and email as well as your web site if you have one. Your email address is NEVER published or sold. We only ask for it to track spam. Also we collect you IP address automatically when you submit your comment.
Q: How can I have my video, or a video I saw, posted here?
A: First and foremost, we do not host videos directly. The video must be hosted by a video sharing service such as YouTube. The video owner must also have enabled the video for embedding on sites outside of the video sharing service. This is simply to keep us clear in copyright issues. We also must be able to review it just to make sure it is presentable to a general audience. Even if it is presentable to a general audience, we may just simply do not like it (can’t love every video) and don’t want to have it here but that is usually not the case.
Q: I like one of your videos. Can I take it and repost it on YouTube or other video sharing service?
A: Better not. Copyright infringement is a very serious issue. If you like a video here and want to use it in your creation, you should seek the permission of the video owner. Any copyright claims or DMCA notices you receive as a result are soley your responsibility to deal with and is not our problem because you chose to copy a video illegally.
Q: I saw a video here not long ago and it was old. Now it has reappeared as a new post? What’s going on?
A: We are playing a practical joke on you. We recycle our posts as they get older to keep them out of the landfill. Okay seriously for real though, we do recycle posts as they get older and bring them back as new. This gives all of the posts equal time on the front page and keeps the site looking fresh for everybody. Also we are lazy…..:-D)
Q: I am concerned about my privacy here. What kind of information does Pick My Video collect?
A: We collect any necessary information to process the request from your browser and to log issues the site has from time to time. This includes your IP address and limited information regarding your operating system and internet browser. We do not collect personal identifiable information such as your name, email address, or street address unless you submit that information. Subscribing may require this information in a limited fashion and is never “sold”. We do, however, employ third party advertising that may collect your personal information to present advertisement suited to your interests or to process your order.
Additionally we use Google Analytics to monitor certain aspects of your visit in order to make further improvements and make your visit more enjoyable. Please consult with the privacy policy of Google for more information.
Q: Hey! That’s my video you have there! Take it down!
A: Hey! First make sure it is yours to begin with. If it is then it is played from your video sharing service using embedding code so you still get the hits on it. If you still want it taken down, then disable embedding of your video on sites outside of your video sharing service. Problem solved. We will not honor any take down request simply because you don’t like your video embedded on our site. Why complain about it? Your video is getting free advertising at our expense.
Q: I see my video on your site and it doesn’t have the annotations that it does on my YouTube channel. Why?
A: When embedding YouTube videos on our site, we strip the annotations from the video using an API embedded player parameter specifically supplied and authorized by YouTube. This does not affect your Google AdSense ads in the video in any way.
Q: A video of mine is on your site and it violates copyright laws.
A: See the answer above. If you are not the copyright owner or legal agent authorized to act on be-half of the copyright holder, we will not respond to your concerns.
Q: A video is on your site and I am the copyright holder or legal agent authorized to act on be-half of the copyright holder and wish to have it taken down.
A: Certainly, we will disclose the necessary video information to you so you can go to the video sharing service directly to have it not only removed from here, but most likely removed from dozens of other sites all at the same time. We do not host any video. Videos are only embedded on this site and are hosted with a video sharing service such as YouTube. Once the video sharing service processes your claim to take the video down, that will effectively remove it here automatically.
