A very rare treat to have video from a solid rocket booster falling back to earth. What makes this video very special is that it has the audio with it. Not alot of NASA videos from cameras mounted on a SRB has the audio.
Inspired by the YouTube viral video by James Drake, “What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?”, this video is what it would feel like to fall from Earth orbit?”, we dug through a pile of NASA video footage to bring you what it feels like to be a solid rocket booster.
This is the complete video sequence of a space shuttle solid rocket booster being jettisoned and falling back to planet Earth. All of the sounds you hear in the video are completely natural sounds. There is no dubbing or overlaying of artificial sound effects. The video and audio distortions are natural as well as the SRB passes through certain layers of the atmosphere.
